I currently have 2x Play 1”s and a Beam. What do I need to connect a Wharfdale SW150 SUB?

Can I use a Gen 1 connect amp for this purpose?

Sonos does not provide for connecting a non-Sonos sub to a Beam.

Nope. When the C:A is used with a Beam, its sub output is disabled: https://support.sonos.com/en-us/article/set-up-connect-amp-as-surround-speakers

As the replies clearly stated, you cannot connect a 3rd party subwoofer to a Beam (or any other Sonos soundbar).  You would need to swap the Beam for a Sonos Amp and passive speakers to use a 3rd party sub.
