Sonos Five stand mount question

I'm thinking about buying a pair of Fives for a stereo pair. I would like to be able to move them occasionally to different rooms and was wondering if they mechanically couple to the stands or do they merely rest on top of them. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi

From all indications the stands are a friction mount. I have Sonos One stands and they are the same. I doubt very seriously that Sonos would sanction a 3rd party stand that required drilling of holes or pressure points that would mar the speaker finish and potentially void the Sonos warranty. If so Sonos would warn of such I’m sure.

If you are using Trueplay (via the Sonos App with an iOS device) to tune the speakers to the room; moving the speakers would require you Trueplay them to the room you move them to and once again upon moving them back to their semi-permanent position. If you are using Android then none of the above applies as Trueplay is not an available option.

I have this stand, as designed the cord goes in a slot and isn’t easy to remove but the speaker just sits on top. They do mention using 3M Command Strips if you want it permanently mounted.

I put my cord in the slot as it looks much better, but my 5 sits happily on the stand with no attachment. The whole thing is easy to un-plug and carry to where I want it and very stable.

I liked the look better than the Flexon stand, no visible mount bracket from the front.
