Projector + Apple TV + Playbar

Hello!
I am wanting to buy a projector for kids outdoor movie nights, and as such do not want to spend a lot on it. I am currently considering the Epson EB-W42. It only has a 2W speaker, so I am wanting to hook it up to my Sonos system (Playbar). The projector does not have any other audio outputs.
I also have an Apple TV (2nd generation), which has an optical audio port.
If I connect the Apple TV to the projector using HDMI, and then connect the Apple TV to my Sonos Playbar using the optical ports - will that work?
Many thanks for your advice! : )

Yes, it should. But it will sound odd to have the audio not coming from where the screen is, unless you’re using a super long optical cable to get the PLAYBAR under the screen.

Thanks for confirming that for me. And thanks for the tip! That hadn't even crossed my mind, will look into that too. Thanks so much Bruce.
