I'm looking to set up my home with Sonos. The living/dining space is about 450sqft. I'm thinking about starting with an Immersive Beam Set (Beam, Sub Mini, 2x 100s). I have a record player in this space that I use regularly, and an old Play:5 as the speaker. I was thinking about a Play:5 to Five upgrade, but I'm worried the Five would be overkill in a <500sqft space where there's also a Beam and Sub. Could the immersive set get me sound as rich as the Five in this space?

My office is 150sqft and serviced by Vanatoo T0 desk speakers that I'd like to integrate. They are connected to the PC via USB. I need to make sure that I can go between sound from the PC to the speakers with no lag (for audio/video editing) while also being able to go through Sonos for whole home audio when needed. I'm a little confused on the Port's functionality but I'm wondering if it could be a solution here. If not, how else could I selectively integrate PC audio to the Sonos system?

TIA

A Beam set should do well in that room unless you really want it loud.

Depending on how old your Play 5 is (generation and S1 or S2) there is no big reason to replace it if it will join the Beam set.

The Port gives you inputs and outputs for the Sonos system, your Play 5 already has an input so no Port needed to play your albums.

There is a Staff topic around here on using Sonos as PC speakers.

Thanks for the reply. The Play 5 is S1, so it won’t play well with the rest of the system.

I’d prefer not to buy new speakers for my PC, but rather use the high quality speakers I already own, if there’s a way to get them connected to the Sonos network. That’s why I’m inquiring about the Port.
