Hi Everyone,

I am thicking of buying my daughter a Project T1 Turntable for Christmas and I was wondering if I can connect these to a set of old Play 1 sonos speakers to start with and then later upgrade to say a Sonos 5?

Or what setup would people recommend?

Also I can see there is both a Phono and Bluetooth version of the Project T1 will both work?

Do I need to buy a Sonos AMP or Port?

Also would using bluetooth have a significant impact on the music quality? My daughter wears headphones a lot so I thought the bluetooth version might be a good idea.

I hope someone can help?

For listening to records, having an amp with a good pair of speakers has always been satisfying. Call me old fashioned, but a wired connection does sound better.

That being said, having the option for Bluetooth pairing would be great, but I don't know if the audio would be compromised in doing so. Everything that Sonos offers with a line in does convert analog signals to digital and back again, so the audio is not pure, but it's not terrible either.

The least expensive option would be to use an Era 100 that has both line in and Bluetooth, but that means you have an extra speaker in the lineup.

The next option is with the Port, then groupong the port with the Play 1s. You can also set the Port to play to the Play 1s by default, then group to any other speaker or room you choose.

The most expensive, but in my view, the best sounding would be to purchase an Amp and a good pair of passive speakers and create a “listening room” of sorts just for records.

I am guessing a pair of bluetooth headphones can be paired with any of these solutions.
