Can Sonos One SL be connected in different rooms - looking at 3 speakers in 3 different rooms

Yes, as long as your home network and mobile App requirements are in place. See these links:

The three Sonos One SL speakers can be setup in each room and you can play a variety of music to them either separately, or as a group, in any combination.
 

Audio sources can be via the Sonos App, i.e. streaming audio - like Spotify (free or subscription service), Deezer, Amazon Music, Sonos Radio, YouTube Music etc. or locally stored music, or if you have Apple iOS devices you can use Airplay to play audio from dozens of mobile Apps too, like YouTube, the Apple Music native App etc.
