2xGen 1 play 5's and a Sonos Sub OR two New Play 5's

i have two gen 1 play 5’s

I’m thinking of adding a sonos Sub gen 1.

My question is would the results be better than buying two of the latest 5’s ?

Mainly listening to dance, Heavy bass type music. BUT also a lot of indie, Smiths, Joy Division, New order, Smashing Pumpkins, Pixies

Any thoughts ?

I don’t know new Fives will sound that much better than Play:5 and Sub. Get the Sub, but anticipate the life expectancy of the old speakers too. Also check what Sub versions are compatible: are you running S1 or S2?

Depending on budget I’d consider two Fives (or even Era 300’s) and a Sub or Sub Mini.

If you add the Sub Gen1 you’re buying into more old tech. Go for the Fives or Era 300’s as current product. Then sell the old :5’s and see if that covers cost of a Sub/Sub Mini.

To bring down the cost you might consider two pre-owned Play:5s (gen 2) rather than Fives, or two Era 100s with a Sub Mini
