Will the Play:3 ever work like it used to? Or should I move on?
Will the Play:3 ever work like it used to? Or should I move on?
How did it use to work? How does it work now?
Myself I wouldn’t use a Play 3 or old version of the Play1 with precious little memory and weak cpu on the new s2 app / firmware though they officially are supported.
Quick operation response. Now there is lagging, no device found, app crashes. I know Sonos launched a new operating app, completely gutted the old app for a new app that incorporates their new headphone line of products. I know that updates are being put out every week or two to update the os. My question is will it ever be the same as it was before the new os, or will it always be glitchy? Because right now I’m using a Tribit StormBox, good response does not sound great.
So the app is the concern rather than the speaker itself? Why not revert to the S1 app till things improve?
And yes, I believe the app will continue to improve.
Yes, the speakers are fine, crisp, clear sound. That’s what makes it so frustrating. Everything worked great until it didn’t. S1 is the same. That’s why I reverted back to the older app hoping the older software would be more compatible.
These speakers are not inexpensive, the hardware is working the app is not.
I’m sure you have heard it before but this is extremely disappointing.
I don’t have any issues with my pair of PLAY:3s under S2. It sure seems like you have some local network issues. At the very least, I would reset the local network by unplugging all Sonos devices from power, then perform a reboot of the router. Wait a couple of minutes for the router to reload everything before plugging back in your Sonos devices.
Or PLAY:1s,
If that process doesn’t help, I’d certainly submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and call Sonos Support to discuss it.
There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.
When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.
