I recently purchased the Pro-Ject 1 turntable and Sonos Five.

Frankly, I am disappointed in how loud the system is…

it’s in a rather cavernous room. Would adding a Sonos sub and another Five make it “louder” or do I need to abandon ship and get some standing floor speakers to get the sound I’m looking for?

A second speaker would obviously produce a much better stereo soundstage.

Is your Five not able to go loud enough? Make sure the turntable’s phono proamp is ON, and try tinkering with the Line-In Source Level on the Five.

Line-in source level on the app? The phono pre-amp on the pro-ject is ‘on’.

when streaming it is probably 25% louder than playing records. It’s still not really enough to satisfy me, though.

Line-in source level on the app?

Yes, in the room settings for the Five.

I’d be surprised if fiddling the settings doesn’t work but a Sonos Amp and high efficiency speakers will be a lot louder.

I’d lean to some nice Klipsch myself.

Yeah, I don’t think the 5 is really what I’m looking for…

maybe I’ll put it in another room.
