I am interested in buying Ikea symfonisk. I have the S1 app. Does that work?
I think that I have to have the S1 app because my speakers play 1 and play 5 are old. Is that true?

Generally the answer to both your questions comes down to the version of the devices. Your Play:1 is compatible with S1 and S2; the Play:5 could be, if it is a Play:5 gen2, but not if it is a Play:5 gen1 - similar constellation with the Ikea Symfonisk.
