Not broken, it has always been that way.
The green Mute indicator is not controllable like the White LED is.
Turn off mute or if you want it muted use a piece of dimming-film to reduce or block the green.

I’d say it is the programmers that need fixed, off is off, don’t care if it is flashing purple polka-dots.
