I have five Play 3s, Two Plays ones, One Port and One Amp. The system used to be stable and I had access to Spotify in all the combinations I wanted. However, recently the whole system has become unstable. Speakers dropping, playlists skipping or not connecting and unable to group speakers. I read online about rebooting the router with the speakers unplugged; this didn't help. I even tried factory resetting every speaker and component and reinstalling the system; it didn't work. I have a strong and stable wifi signal. However, the groupings continue to dropout; the input to change volumes or tracks is very laggy and slow; and playing music is not dependable. Can anyone suggest what I can do to get back to the dependable system of the past?
Same for me. System takes minutes to appear in app. Speakers drop out of system regularly - keep playing but invisible in app. Looks like there's an issue with the wireless component. All started with update 5 days ago. Latest Android on Sammy S23.
Don’t do a factory reset again, unless instructed by a Sonos rep.
Unplug all of your Sonos devices from power.
Reboot your router.
Wait 2 minutes.
Plug back in your Sonos devices.
Wait 2 minutes.
Test for delays and audio interruptions.
If this works, investigate how to set up reserved IP addresses in your router, or be prepared to repeat this process potentially frequently, when Sonos updates their software, which forces you speakers to request new IPs from your router.
If it doesn’t work, I would recommend that you submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and call Sonos Support to discuss it.
There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.
When you speak directly to the phone folks, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.
All components have fixed ip addresses. Done resets, reboots etc to no avail.
I addition the app is sluggish and unresponsive. Favourites have taken about 15m to appear and Recently Played is still blank.
Looking through the community loads of people are having similar problems with the new app.
My experience is that Sonos has been rock solid - until now
It IS the new app. I have Play 1’s , Play 3’s, Play 5’s and a Connect. Before the May 7, 2024 app update, my Sonos system was relatively stable and worked!!! Not now. I get error messages, dropped speakers, sound defaulting to only one set of speakers, cannot adjust volume from the control bar as previously and more. It is just an awful and frustrating experience. I do not think Sonos has any plans to support the speakers that are older than the models currently for sale.
I sincerely hope not. Backward compatibility and support was the feature that made Sonos stand out from the pack. While I understand new features can't be supported on old kit, there's no way I can afford to replace older kit and it's a big disincentive to buying any new kit or upgrading
I thought I'd try the old app but, of course, the speaker firmware update prevents it working.
So suspect it's the new Play 1 firmware that's the problem.
I see my phone got an app update yesterday - seems to be OK at the mo
Nice. Turned automatic updates off. Maybe I’ll give it a try.
