Sonos SL one pair won't connect to Spotify after airplay device

AirPlay seems to work fine, I can swap between my devices no problem. But once I try to switch to Spotify network streaming it seems like the connection is blocked. 

 

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get the Sonos to properly disconnect from airplay?

 

If I turn off the apple devices I can get it to connect to Spotify, but this seems extreme to switch between devices.

Have you tried switching the Airplay connection off first, simply by selecting your iOS device (iPhone/iPad etc) at the top of the Airplay device control centre, that shifts the playing audio from the Sonos speaker back to the iOS device  - then select a Sonos device in the Spotify ‘connect’ list .. or you can do the same vice versa.

That usually works for me.
