Sonos Play:5 (Gen 1 ) stopping randomly for 5-10 sec when playing Spotify  but works fine with Tidal and radio stations. I have done everything Sonos support suggested. Sonos support said that it is a internal memory problem (to small memory for high-res streams). But Spotify is far from high-res and Tidal works fine. I have no network problems. Please fix this Sonos!

Hi @niclas_jonsson

Sorry to hear you’re having issues with playing Spotify on your Play:5 Gen 1. With certain legacy Sonos devices, it's possible audio interruptions from certain music sources (e.g. Spotify, iHeart Radio, NRK Radio) can occur. As far as I know, this can occur with the Play:5, Connect, and Connect:Amp due to memory limitations.

There are some workarounds however, which are to:

  • Reboot the effected speaker when the issue occurs.
  • Wire the speaker via Ethernet if it is not.
  • Turn off Crossfade and Shuffle.

This isn’t something that can be fixed, only mitigated. If you’re still experiencing issues after trying the workarounds above, then my only other suggestions would be to either: not sure Spotify on the Play:5, or to use our Upgrade Program and replace the Play:5.

I hope this explains the issue and that the workarounds help.
