Sonos Play:3 won't connect

I have a Sonos 1 and I am pretty happy with it.  I just bought a used 3 and I can't get it to connect my system.  I get to the point where it wants me to push my mute button to make the final connection and it never connects. I'll hold my finger on the mute button it will quick flash 3 or 4 times in a row then go back to regular flashing green and white at the same time. I even turned off my firewall thinking that might help.

I had the same problem. After a factory reset it wouldn't stop flashing orange. Eventually after connecting it with cable directly to the router it turned green (after several minutes) and then I could set it up with the App.

Have done anything else? I mean  - just connect directly to router and wait or you tried within the sonos app to set it up? thanks 

Not really except several restarts and factory resets.
