I have two One’s that work great for music, but when I use them with AirPlay via Apple TV as an alternate output, they disconnect after 5-10 minutes - well, sound stops, but going to the Apple TV and Sonos App, it shows connected.

All firmware is up to date on all hardware, Sonos + AppleTV.

Have reset them all, unplugged, etc, still same outcome. Is this normal?

Thanks!

Moderator edit: Changed Play:1 to One for accuracy

I wouldn’t think so, but there’s a certain amount of unknown territory because you’re using Apple’s AirPlay to send the signal, Sonos won’t ‘own’ that signal until they’ve received it.

At the least, I’d double check the wifi interference FAQ, and make sure that I was only using a single AirPlay 2 stream to my Sonos, and using the Sonos controller to do any ‘room’ grouping desired, to reduce the need for multiple streams from my Apple device.

You could, however, submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and call Sonos Support to discuss it.

There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.

When you speak directly to the phone folks, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your Sonos system and network.

Thanks Bruce - I spent about 2hrs with about 3 levels of Apple support on Friday, where the issue has been escalated to engineering.

It seems like it may be more of an Apple HW issue, or App-specific issue - some Apps do not drop the audio, while others do.

Will post more once I hear back form Apple.

Wow, thanks for taking the effort. I’ll be fascinated to hear what the results are!

So - it's the App! Netflix is at the root. They dropped airplay support

That’s both fascinating, and slightly terrifying. Wonder what it was that forced Netflix down this road.
