Recently I am having severe problems with my wifi connection. I am unable to connect to my usual network, which happens to be the one that is used by Sonos. So Sonos won’t launch.

Sonos tells me to change the network on my computer to the one that Sonos is tied to. I cannot do this because it is the network that won’t connect.

What I need to do is the opposite...to change the wifi network that Sonos is using. How do I do this?

Thanks.

Is there a reason why you cannot connect your phone/pad to the usual network?

Which SONOS models are in your system?

Connect a single device temporarily to your router with an Ethernet cable. After a few minutes for things to ‘settle down’, your Sonos devices that can connect to SonosNet should show up.

You may want to peruse the new router - installation instructions FAQ.

I do not know what happened that changed my network. It followed a power outage of a few hours. I didn’t do anything. It had to be caused by xfinity.

I have 2 networks--one that I connect to when in MA during summer (now), and another when I am in FL for the winter. I generally do not have trouble when I migrate...Sonos finds the network where I am.

After the power outage, I kept trying to connect to my MA network, which had been working just fine. No go. Then I noticed that my iphone had bars...connected to the FL network, not the MA one. Weird.

So now I have connected all my devices, except for Sonos obviously, to the FL network, about 1500 miles away. As long as it is working, I really don’t care which network I am connected to.

The best thing would be for me to get the MA network running again but after repeated xfinity Community exchanges and time spent online with an xfinity robot assistant, I have received no help...this is typical of xfinity. So the next possibility is to change the network Sonos is tied to, so here I am.

It sure would be nice to listen to music...having a system that won’t work is extremely frustrating-duh!. That said, there is only so much time and energy I am willing to put into changing the network that Sonos is tied to. I already spent many hours with the current Sonos debacle and was finally able to listen to Sirius XM and to the Sonos Playlists I had created. I am completely out of patience.

In MA, I have 4 Sonos Connects which are connected to Bose speakers in 4 different rooms in my house. They are in a cabinet that is located maybe 20-25 feet from my xfinity equipment. I have read some of the info on connecting my Connects one at a time to a “new router”, but it sounds very tedious and, if I understand correctly, re-setting anything might erase my new Sonos Playlists. I would rather go without music for the next 2 months than lose all that. (In FL, I have a very similar system, with 6 Connects, not that this matters.)

So is that it? Am I stuck until I can get the MA network fixed?

Thanks for reading all this.

If you have a Windows PC use SonoSaver to backup your Sonos playlists.  You can also use Phonos Plus for IOS to do the same, but the process is a little more involved

How do I use SonoSaver if I cannot open Sonos?
