I have a relatively old Sonos system, Sonos Play 5, Play 3 and a Sonos Bridge. It has been fine for a long time now, but since a new router was installed I can only get connected using the mobile app about one time out of ten.

Make sure the router wifi is running on a fixed channel - 1, 6 or 11.

Bridge power supplies are becoming unreliable in their old age: try Ethernet cabling a speaker. Run SonosNet on a different channel from 1, 6 and 11.

WiFi is running on channel 6, my speakers are in different rooms to the router so ethernet cable not an option. SonosNet ??

SonosNet requires something to be plugged in to Ethernet.(Currently your Bridge)

If the Play 5 is a Gen 2, then try performing a full reset on both speakers and set the system up again without the Bridge so that it works on just your new WiFi.

I can’t remember if S1 systems can work without SonosNet, I’m sure someone else will confirm.

Honestly, the BRIDGE at this age is questionable, and can, when it fails, cause a slew of hard to diagnose issues. I’d certainly suggest @Ian_S solution of testing without the BRIDGE to be valuable. Not sure I would start by resetting the PLAY:5 though.

And yes, S1 systems can run in either wired or wireless setups. For the latter, you’d need to enter the network information in the controller before removing it from being wired.
