Two sonos SL Ones, one sub gen 3 and an arc was bought in the UAE. I told them that I will be taking the components to Iran and the sales team practically encouraged me to go for it.

Now it appears that without a VPN on, I can't get the diabolical Sonos app to open and of course, now I know that with a VPN on, the app itself will upload but that's about it: it's impossible to add any components. 

After spending almost 4 hours with tech support they casually told me that they don't support Iran.

That makes Sonos a bunch of crooks in my book. You can't be telling your sales teams in the UAE to flog off your useless systems to unsuspecting customers bound for Iran and then tell the same customers that the products are not supported there. 

I expect Sonos to either provide me with a full refund or to come up with a solution to fix this issue. 

This is NOT acceptable. 

I am 99% sure the “sales team in UAE” are not employed by Sonos, and therefore Sonos couldn’t tell them what to do or say if they wanted to.  Just because someone sells something doesn’t make them a representative of, or spokesperson for, the manufacturer.


They were the official representatives of Sonos in the UAE and I specifically asked them about Iran and they actively encouraged me to buy it telling me that they have many Iranian customers who buy and take the items with them. 

Regardless, everyone knows that Sonos is an absolute embarrassment now. You should check out their trust pilot reviews! Absolutely laughable! 

The worst purchase decision that I have ever taken. I just have to join the other thousands of voices on trust pilot and other review sites about what a joke of a company Sonos has become.

I expect Sonos to either provide me with a full refund or to come up with a solution to fix this issue. 

This is NOT acceptable. 

I sympathize …. But ’m not American or Iranian and am poorly educated but even I know the USA and other western Democracies have sanctions on Iran since the 1970s. I’m a little surprised that someone moving to Iran wouldn’t anticipate that a connected device supported by a USA corporation wouldn’t work.

 

Hopefully you are able to return the speakers. 

You should buy Russian or North Korean multi room speakers instead.
