S1 and S2 apps

I have a system which includes 2 Play 5 (gen 1) speakers using the S1 app. I have recently bought a second hand Play 3. When I try the ‘add product’ button on the app it tells me ‘app update needed’. I am concerned that if I update it, the Play 5’s wont work. Would this be the case?

Here are downgrade instructions. I recommend powering down the current S1 system while you downgrade the new unit. Factory reset the new unit before and after the downgrade, then power up the system and add the new unit to your system. This point seems confuse users who often click the wrong option and build a new system -- ending up with two or more systems that will not interact with each other.
