Hey. Is there a way to remote turn on/off the lamp in IKEA Symfonisk? Or do I have to do it using the button on the lamp/loudspeaker?

Add a smart bulb and turn the light on.  Leave that switch on and only use an app or alexa to then turn the light on and off.  The light on the symfonisk speakers is just a simple light fitting and a physical switch.   They just share the same power cord.  Yu could use a smart plug but it is never good to keep switching the speakers on and off with the lights.

If you put a smart light in the ikea lamp you could use a remote or your phone.

Hi Almazri.

Thanks for your reply.

Have you tested that with the specific product, I am referring to? (IKEA Symfonisk).

Because when I try, nothing happens, probably because the on/off button on the lamp is off.

It’s almost the same, as if you cut the power to any other light source with a smart lightbulb, you would not be able to get some light.

So please tell how you overcame the problem with the IKEA Symfonisk.

^^^ This is the way, great explanation. I have 4 lamps set up this way and use ikea smart switches to turn the lights on and off and control dimming as well as HomeKit - but any smart platform could be used.

Thanks Bockersjv.

I will do that in the future.

The big problem with the Symfonisk 2 lamp vs V1 lamp, is that when there is a power cut, after power restoration the lamp power is ALWAYS OFF. It is a shame there isn't a way around it.

Ah, sorry… we are not talking about Sonos and the app. Forget my words… 😜

Unfortunately, testing seems to be out of fashion.
