Play3 connects to a point then cannot extablish a PIN

I have a very old play:3. 
it connects fimne (on bluetooth then its own WIFI ) and all is good until it tries top get a audible PIN - no sound. They asks top press the button (on mine its the Start/stop, on the app its Mute) - no reaction. 
Tried restarting, factory reset, etc etc.
Any help out there?
