My play 5 is not playing any sound on my tv

How are you connecting the TV and PLAY:5? Have you been able to play this combination in the past?


Yes it is connected and has worked for years. The odd thing is the next morning is worked fine again so I don't know why it was not working that might. It has done that or tow or three other nights for no reason. It just stops working


But that doesn’t make sense to me. TVs can only connect to Sonos Arc, Beam, Ray, Playbar or Playbase. To the best of my knowledge a TV can’t connect to a Play:5. 


As @buzz asked, how are you connecting them together?


it definitely works. It has been connected to my Tv for about 5 years now. I think my AV guy used some type of cable to connect it.


Okay, on that basis that maybe you have an optical to line-in cable/adaptor type arrangement, turn off the speaker and the TV at the wall. Disconnect the cable between them.

Then put the cable back in, turn on the speaker at the wall and turn the TV back on. See if that helps.

Also make sure the speaker isn’t muted (ie make sure there is a white light on the speaker, not a green light).
