My play 5 gen 1 will not reset. I folled the instructions but it never blinked orange and white?

Not many folks left with the relatively ancient PLAY:5 gen 1. If the instructions in the factory reset FAQ aren’t working for you, you may want to call Sonos Support directly to discuss it.
When you speak directly to the phone folks, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.
