I have a Play 1 and a Play 3 (bought in 2014). So first versions of those speakers I believe.

To date I was able to keep using them via the S1 app, but last week I had an A/V company install a Sonos Port to re-activate a few in-ceiling speakers in our home. As part of this they added the latest Sonos app to my phone, and now I can no longer connect Play 1 and Play 3 to the app. 

 

  1. Can the Play 1 and Play 3 continue to be used? If so, how can I add them to the new Sonos app? The new app does not recognize the Play 1 and Play 3 when I search.
  2. If they CAN be added? Can I group them with the Port within the app?

The new app still supports all S2 devices as before, this isn’t an S2/S3 split.  Try rebooting your router, then reboot the Sonos devices.
