Password error Sonos Play 5

I'm trying to connect the Sonos app (version 2.0) to set up a used Sonos Play:5, but I keep getting a Wi-Fi password error. I even created a new SSID without a password, but the same error appears. I also tried using my mobile hotspot with a simple password and even without one, but I still get the error message:

"We couldn’t connect to [Wi-Fi network]. Make sure you’re using the right Wi-Fi and password, then try again."

Any suggestions?

Can you hook it to your router with an Ethernet cable to get through the initial setup and any needed updates?
