I currently building a pool house and I’m trying to decide if 2 exterior speakers will be sufficient or if I need 4. The area I’m trying to provide sound to is approximately 40’ long by about 44’ deep. The 40’ section is the length of the pool house where the speakers will be located.

Below is a layout of the setup.

In open spaces, the more the speakers the better, with each running as a two channel speaker playing all content. That way you avoid the music having to be too loud in one part of the space to be well heard at the other end. And place the speakers as close to the listening area as possible, using speaker cable of adequate thickness. Because outdoors, sound also dissipates quickly the further the speaker.
