I have a Play 5 (first gen) that is not being recognized in the app. I’ve power cycled the Play 5. No luck. I’ve power cycled my wi-fi router. No luck. I’ve connected it via ethernet cable, no luck. I cannot get it to respond in any way and all it does is flash white. I also made sure the updates were performed. Still, all I have is a Play 5 that does not get recognized in the app. Any suggestions?

Are you running the S1 app? The PLAY:5 gen 1 will not work with the S2 app. 

Have you tried to call Sonos Support directly to discuss it?


S1 app only. Practically all of my Sonos products are 1st Gen., and I have a total of 11 Sonos pieces. Thought I would give the Community a try before calling Sonos support. 


It’s a pretty old device, if it’s a PLAY:5 gen 1, it’s possible that the network card (or any other electronic component) on it has failed. Not sure there’s much this community can do to help you, other than to point your to Sonos support. 

Well, we can wish you luck, for sure, but beyond that….
