Hi, just seeking clarification or possibly a vague diagnosis based on not much information.

I have several One SLs, 1 Beam gen 2, one Move, one Era 100 and one Era 300. About 12 hours ago I was listening to music perfectly fine and all speakers were connected to the system. Now, the app is only showing the Eras and the Move, no One SLs or the Beam Gen 2. I have a vague understanding of the fact that the Eras don’t support SonosNet and are slightly different from the rest of the speakers I have. I just can’t understand why the other speakers aren’t showing up in the app. The Beam Gen 2 is wired into the wall by Ethernet cable and the rest are, I assume, connected to its SonosNet. When going to update the Network on each device, the app discovers all speakers except the Beam. Talking to support, they just recommend turning them all off and on again or resetting them, which I’m not going to do as I assume there has to be a network issue just based on the fact that the Eras appear as normal, yet all the others don’t.

I don’t have enough understanding of how wifi works so I can’t diagnose the problem myself, or know what other information would even be helpful to disclose. Just wondering if someone has any idea as to what the issue could be based on what I’ve said.

Thank you

Resetting the speakers should be your last resort, so I would start with powering down your router/network and all your Sonos speakers, if you haven't done that already.

After a few minutes, power on the router and allow it to fully boot. Then proceed to power on your speakers.

Hi and thanks for your reply. I ended up fixing it after hours talking to tech support via live chat. Rebooting everything didn’t fix it, but just in case anyone else stumbles upon this, this is what somehow caused it all to start magically working again:

  • Unplugging Ethernet from my Beam Gen 2 literally instantly brought the rest of the speakers back online, except two which were saying they weren’t “registered”
  • Turning the 5G band off on my network which has never been a problem before, perhaps it wasn’t even the problem this time but it seemed to do something.
  • plugging the Ethernet back into the Beam Gen 2 immediately bricked the whole thing again, and unplugging it fixed it once again. Plugging it back in a third time caused no problem for some reason.
  • Waiting an hour for all the speakers to settle down and come back to life. I have no idea what upset them as it happened overnight and literally nothing, as far as I’m aware, like network settings, interferences, etc, had changed.

My system does not work at all without a speaker being plugged into the internet, so I have no idea why that went from being its only hope to being the thing preventing it from working altogether. I’m genuinely not well versed enough in internet stuff to understand what happened, but it’s sounding like a wifi problem than a Sonos one…
