I have had to do a factory reset on my (previously paired) play 3s due to losing audio when grouped with my play 5. (Not an issue I had until recently).

Now after doing the setup, my play 3s won't pair. It goes through the motions but come out the otherside still un paired.

Likely no need to do a factory reset, it# really considered a nuclear option. I’d have been looking much more closely at WiFi interference, or possibly a duplicate IP address issue instead. At best, a power cycle might have been helpful, but that is moot at this point.

I’ve not stereo paired my two PLAY:3s recently, they live in separate rooms, although I do frequently have them grouped, with zero issues. If things are ‘failing’ in some unknown manner, I’d call Sonos Support directly to discuss it.

Did you remove the Play:3 stereo pair prior to the factory reset? The other Play:3 may think it is still part of a stereo pair.

I would factory reset the other Play:3 also, then try creating the stereo pair again.

Thanks Bruce.

I was on a call with someone for ages but the call just went dead and unresolved.

Now play 3s (still unpaired) won't group with each other or play 5. Very frustrating.

Never had any of these issues before.

Cheers Mr T.

I didn't unpair prior, but I did a factory reset on both 3s.

That’s odd, but not impossible. If @Mr. T ’s solution doesn’t work (and I think it’s a good one), I’d call back in. There’s just data that we don’t have access to in this public forum that might be important.

When trying to group from 5 to include 3 it says unable to connect.

Do all 3 speakers show in the app in 3 separate rooms?

Can you play music to the Play:3’s separately?

If yes, rather than another factory reset, maybe just try rebooting the Play:3s

Edit: Also check the app for any further updates as the Play:5 may need an update as the Play:3s may have updated to latest FW when added again if an update was available.

Thanks Mr T.

Latest is I have managed to pair the 3s again.

They play for 1 second when grouped with the 5, then audio drops off if grouped from the 5. If 5 is grouped from the 3s when playing, the right 3 drops off. Starts up again when ungrouped.

Not set to each speaker in a different room.

Checked wifi - fine,  checked updates - fine, checked settings - fine.

At a loss here.

Time for a diagnostic and call to support
