I have a pair of era 300s to be wall mounted as surround speakers in newly finished basement. We have metal wall studs, not wood, and wondering if it's safe to mount through drywall to the metal studs and what fasteners to use?

I’d use fasteners designed for connection in metal studs, not the much more generic wood type. Check at your local hardware store.

It’s likely that the standard wood types would tnot even penetrate the metal stud, and your speakers might be vulnerable to falling.

Aside from metal stud specific screws you could look at expanding anchors that would pass through the stud then expand to provide a larger surface to resist pulling out.

Like these but you don’t need 50.
