I have factory Reset all my Sonos Equipment. Recently was gifted a system from a friend who did not know how to reset everything. I have connected the Sub to the system, but the system will not recognize the Soundbar, play:1 x2 or play:5 even if I connect them with Ethernet cable
Have you called Sonos Support directly to discuss it?
When you speak directly to the phone folks, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.
Without any knowledge about your network device, or the nature of your of your actual network, or the where your controller is running, or which version of the Sonos controller, at best we can give vague suggestions.
Which soundbar? There are three current versions, with two different types of connections to the TV, and several more no longer made.
Is something connected to your network, and you can’t add these other devices?
It is the Play Bar.
I keep seeing things about the Sonos Bridge, would that have to be used in order to connect the other speakers etc?
I currently have the play:1 plugged in directly to the router and still having no luck. Not sure if it’s the app, but the Sub is connected. That’s why I’m confused
No, the BRIDGE has long since been replaced by the BOOST, but even that is on its way out, all Sonos devices that can generate their own SonosNet signal (although the newest speakers are WiFi only, no SonosNet).
The sub needs to be bonded to another Sonos speaker in a ‘room’, it can’t be connected by itself.
Still haven’t answered most of the questions, but if the PLAY:1 is intended as a surround speaker (which would make sense with a PLAYBAR, assuming you have two PLAY:1s), it can’t be the speaker connected to the router. I’d, at the very least, temporarily connect the PLAYBAR. Once the system is running, the temporary Ethernet cable can likely be removed.
The PLAY:5s are particularly problematic, since gen 1 is S1 only, but gen 2 can run either S1 or S2, but not at the same time.
I am currently on hold with CS
but yes I currently have 2 Play:1s to use for surround. But I get stuck on the searching for nearby devices. And nothing ever pops up. So not sure if it’s on my end, the internet, or something else.
I don’t know if it is the internet, because the Sub is connected to the internet im trying to connect the other devices to. I’m really not too sure.
