connecting to a new network

Why is Sonos the worst utility on my phone? It’s impossible to problem solve in the app. Nothing works.

Before starting the below, I suggest that you reboot the SONOS units.

Wire PLAYBASE and give it a few minutes to reconfigure. I expect that the system will work now. Next, in Settings go to Update Network and give the new WiFi credentials. If the PLAY:1 balks about this, temporarily power it down. PLAYBASE will now operate via WiFi. If PLAY:1 did not go along with this, Factory Reset PLAY:1 (do not Factory Reset PLAYBASE) and add PLAY:1 to an existing system— take care not to create a new system.

If you have not already done this, I suggest that you “reserve” IP addresses in your router. You’ll need to consult your router manual for instructions. Address reservation prevents mischief.

Did you post here simply to rant or is there a specific issue you need help with?

if it’s the latter, please provide more details on what your problem is.

Both actually. But my issues are almost constant. The recent one is trying to reconnect to new WiFi, but it won’t recognize the speakers. None of the information on line speaks to my issue so I’ll be forced to spend an hour on the phone with them. Problem solving with Sonos is ALWAYS a bad experience.

Can you at least temporarily wire PLAYBASE to your network?

I have but it only works temporarily. For the life of me I don’t understand why this so complicated. Worst product I’ve ever used.

Since Sonos does not have a screen inputting new network credentials will always be awkward. Question is why does a new WiFi (new router?) require anything on Sonos’s side for you. Why not keep the same SSID and password?

I deleted one network and want to add the speakers to another network in our home. It takes me through most of the process but when it requires you to push one of the buttons on the top (pause/play), it fails to recognize my speaker.

Sorry for the confusion - I have 2 systems and one is a playbase. The speakers I’m having an issue with are Play 1s.

Power down PLAY:1 and concentrate on the wired PLAYBASE. Don’t Factory Reset PLAYBASE.

They aren’t connected, nor have they ever, to the playbase.

I don’t know what you mean by “two systems”. Normally it is one system with multiple Rooms.

Never mind. This isn’t solving anything. Thanks for trying.

I don’t have enough information from you. You’ll need to work with SONOS support. Be careful about Factory Reset because, done in the wrong sequence, you’ll lose your music service registrations and SONOS Playlists.
