Is it normal to have just one entry in the devices list in the router app if I have multiple devices grouped into one? On Google/Nest WiFi I think I saw each show up as their own entry but I recently switched to TP-Link Deco and I am only seeing one IP address. All the speakers work, fyi.

Not sure what Sonos ‘router app’ you’re referring to. In the controller app from Sonos, all bonded speakers would show up in a ‘room’, in the router’s DHCP table, they should each have their own IP address.

For what it’s worth, I have neither a Google Nest nor a TP-Link router, so I’m not sure how their display would work, but if the Sonos speakers are working properly, it wouldn’t really matter to me, either.

I am sorry for the confusion. I can’t edit, so clarifying here that when I say “the router app” I mean TP-Link’s Deco app. There is a list of clients connected to my router and in that list I only see one entry for Sonos.

While the speakers work fine, what I had learned in my past experience is that with mesh wifi, there are times when the IP address has issues when switching from one point to another and that is when the speakers could go offline (usually represented by a ? in the Sonos app). At that time, Sonos reps suggested finding a way to attached a fixed IP address to the devices so that even when the mesh network switches the points they connect to, they maintain the same IP address.

Hope that helps clarify.

Ubiquiti has a similar issue: devices that are Bonded (ie surrounds and subs) don’t show up at all in the Devices list. This is despite the fact they are handed an IP address by the router, so it must know about them.

My prior system (AmpliFi) showed them all.

My iOS app also shows them all, and can be used to verify their IP address.

Hi @Therm, my Asus router doesn’t show my sub as a connected device. Although the sub does get an IP address from the Asus router, it bonds to my Arc directly … because the sub never connects to the router, it is not listed as a ‘live’ device.

As others have said, yes, it will show only once for all speakers that are bonded. I have the Deco app and the Arc, Sub and surrounds appear only under one entry. It will be to do with the fact that whilst each speaker has its own IP address (which I can see in my router’s backend settings), the sub and surrounds get their instructions from the Arc via the dedicated 5ghz WiFi that bonds the speakers together.
My Deco app relates to the M5 mesh disks, and I have turned off ‘Mesh Technology’ against each Sonos speaker in the Deco app, so that the speakers remain connected to their nearest disk/node rather than having them looking to switch between nodes if signal strength changes. This helps keep them very stable.

Thanks, @controlav @press250 and @Rhonny … looks like it is ok to see only one device in the client list.

I will monitor and see if the other devices are staying connected and in the group because that was the original reason I had to assign a fixed IP. If there are issues, I will post back with a separate topic about the connectivity :-)
