Airplay wont work in era 100 from windows pc itunes, but airplay works from iphone and other airplay devices work from pc.

Perhaps try moving the speaker nearer to the local router and see if that maybe resolves the issue.

Exactly same probablem here, only era 100 with the problem, move, roam, beam and symfonisk working well.
Sonos technical Support does not find a Solution.
I am totally sure is a firmaware issue of the era 100 related to airplay 1. Airplay from iPhone or iPad works ok (Airplay 2).
Last firmware update around a month ago.

really disappointed.

Maybe see these links & requirements for AirPlay 2 …

Edit: Note in the first link shown above, it mentions… "You can also use AirPlay 1 to stream system audio from macOS to Sonos, but you may experience a delay, or audio interruptions”.

Airplay 1 has works perfectly good for years…today still is working in all my Sonos speakers except Era 100…

I’m sorry I can’t really add anything further, as I usually just AirPlay from an iPhone, or iPad, and that seems to be working okay. What App/source-device are you using?

iTunes running on a win 11 machine.
Raspberry pi 5 running LMS (lyrion music server)

Airplay 2 from iPhone or iPad or macOS works ok.

With airplay 1 the Sonos app shows the Era playing, but no sound is produced.

thanks

This is exactly my problem.  I have a massive library on my computer so I have always used iTunes to airplay.  Stopped working on Era 100’s, but my roams work just fine.  I even tried moving to the windows “apple music” app, but that didn’t work either.  Over an hour on the phone with support and they couldn’t find the issue.  I can also play from my phone through airplay.

We need Sonos fix the the problem.
I am 99% sure is a firmware issue.

LMS Airplay Bridge plugin uses AirPlay 1/RAOP .    On newer models (ERA 100, ERA 300, Move 2, Roam 2, Arc Ultra) in a recent firmware update appears to have disabled RAOP audio.  My workaround is to play LMS to my Roam SL and then group my Move 2 to the playing Roam.  Then they both play and can adjust their volumes independently in the Sonos app.  The correct solution is for Sonos to re-enable RAOP in their newer models via a firmware update.

Good idea, I am going to test it tonight!

thanks.

I have also tested it on my Sonos Port as the LMS player.  Whilst the Port is playing, go into the Sonos app and group the Move 2 or other new no output speaker with the Port or working equivalent that still receives Airplay 1.  Unfortunately the grouping is lost as soon as you change the LMS playlist, so you have to regroup  everytime.  Sonos undoubtedly loses a lot of customers amongst those unwilling or unable to spend hours hoping to get their products working reliably.

It is impressive the bad performance of Sonos.
Thanks

It is working again!
Thank you Chris1310.

Hope Sonos fix the firmware soon!

New Sonos update…new disappointment…

New sonos firmware update...no airplay fix for my era 100. Since October i can not use it.

I loose hope of Sonos support fix.

This is just a guess on my part. Might it be the AirPlay version of the source/sending device. perhaps? It needs to be AirPlay v2 by all accounts - see this link:

Airplay is retro compatible.
I have been using the Era 100 via LMS (Lyrion Music Server) with airplay bridge for more than a year…Sonos broke it in the October firmware upgrade.
In other Sonos speak ears that I also have everything works ok.
I can airplay to the era 100 from my iPhone, I can not from windows or the LMS server.

Really disappointed….

I was just thinking it might be ‘by design’ that the newer Sonos products perhaps just support Airplay v2 only.

I’d maybe speak to Sonos Support and see what they say, as it might perhaps be the case that they don’t plan to support the older version of the AirPlay protocol on the newer Sonos products.

I talk to Sonos Support, era 100 is compatible with AirPlay 1. After several test they didn’t know why the speaker does not works

As I say before, airplay work as usual from my iPhone, only fail if I try from iTunes running on win 11 machine or my LMS server.

I wonder if there is something different in the implementation of AirPlay on non Apple OS’s, in your case, Windows and LMS server.  Given that they’re installed by Apple (I think), there shouldn’t be, but it does strike me that where you’re having issues is from non-Apple devices.

According to internet posts in reddit, the problem also affects older Macs running macOS.
For me is clear that the problem start at the end of October with a firmware update.

New Sonos firmware update…no fix again.

Hi @Symphony et al

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

We are aware of an issue whereby some Sonos speakers will be unable to play AirPlay feeds from a Windows PC running iTunes software, and we are investigating. We have no estimate for when a fix might be put in place, but I will update this thread when I hear of it.

In the meantime, you should be able to play to affected speakers by AirPlay-ing to speakers not affected and grouping the intended speakers in with it, where this is an option. Era 100, Era 300 and Move 2 speakers are affected by this issue.

I hope this helps.

True about the group, but is not practical because every change in the playlist broke thes group.
I replace the era 100 for a Move 1 (and I have to say, worst sound in the move). The era 100 is in his box in the warehouse….

I hope can hear good news from You in the next couple of weeks.

Hi @Cdsalgad

The only way that groups should be affected by anything at all is through the grouping options within the Sonos app - no changing playlists or anything similar should have this effect, and certainly not when using AirPlay. I recommend you get in touch with our technical support team who have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your Sonos system and what it reports.

I hope this helps.
