Listening to music today post 14.8 in my cabin one the Play 5 and sub and wondered what had happened.  Had tru4eplay on and it normally sounds fantastic.  Now there is no bass at all.  Turned the sub up to level 6 and still barely any bass.  Then turned off the sub and the bass returned!  How does that work?

Re-ran trueplay and no difference.  So basically the sub is now useless and tuning it on turns off the bass.

Update…

Returned to cabin set up to try more things. Bass still absent with Trueplay on.

Decided to try them staple IT call centre advice. “Have you tried turning all the devices off and on again?”

Switched the three speakers off for a minute and after powering back up normal service has been resumed and deep rich, but without the boom, bass is back. The joy!!!

So if anyone else experiences this try the above.

Experiment with physically moving SUB. Trueplay cannot change the laws of physics. If SUB is in a bad location it will not be very effective.

I’m not sure what you mean. The sub was superb before the update. Trueplay had the effect of Deepening the bass without it being booming.

After this update turning it on takes the Low frequencies off the 5s which the Sub dies not then deliver. It’s as of the sub drivers has been disconnected.
