Our old computer system (iMac G5 2014) was hosting our music library which was running two Sonos Play 5 (get 1) speakers without issues. Each speaker had a unique name, and I was able (via the controller) to turn each speaker on and off individually.

That computer died a few months ago. I went to hook up this same system to a different mac (Mac Mini 2017 vintage), and after a few tries got the system working, but with only one of the two speakers. When I open the controller interface (I updated the software upon moving the system to the new computer), the option of adding/selecting each individual speaker no longer exists. Instead, the only addressable option is a group name I had given the two speakers.

So, how do I reconnect the second speaker into the system?

Not really enough data to be sure, but have you updated all the speaker’s software, in addition to the controller update?

How are your speakers connected to your wifi? Do you have one or more Sonos devices connected to your router with an Ethernet cable? What kind of wifi system do you have? 


The problem is fixed. Somehow, the one speaker’s settings were toggled from wireless to wired. It took a Sonos customer support tech to reset the speaker.
