I wanted to expand my system, but not spend too much money…I got two old (series1) Play:1 speakersĀ  from EBay - about Ā£60-70 each.

I was dreading adding them to my system, as I’ve has issues in the past, and with all the recent (and ongoing) app debacleĀ  I feared that installing ā€˜legacy’  hardware might be a nightmare…

Amazingly it was the easiest install ever!Ā Ā  I had to factory reset one (easy job) - but both of them were added to my system so easily, registered, and joined as a stereo pair.Ā  I’m amazed how straight forwards it was šŸ‘

Honestly, given how rubbish everything has been with Sonos recently this was a breath of fresh air for me.

If you want to expand your system, and do it on the cheapĀ  I can surely recommend this route.
(a new Era100 is Ā£200, and who wants all that ā€˜Smart’ stuff anyhow eh?)

just wanted to share a positive story! šŸ˜

Those play 1 units sounded excellent when launched, and as long as they are in good working condition, that has not changed.Ā

For those users using theĀ S1 controller app, they are stillĀ a painless add if they have not been upgraded to S2.
