Hi,

I currently have three Gen 1 Play 5s.

To connect them to the Internet I need to have one hardwired to the router. The other 2 then connect via WiFi.

If I was to upgrade to two Era 300s and an Arc soundbar, do I still need one unit hardwired?

Or will all three work from WiFi.

Thanks.

You should not need to have a Sonos speaker hardwired to have them connect to wifi - in fact, if you cable connect one speaker all speakers revert to Sonosnet and separate from your wifi. You should be able to connect your speakers to your wifi if you want to. https://support.sonos.com/en/article/connect-sonos-to-a-new-router-or-wi-fi-network

The new Era speakers do not do Sonosnet, so need to be connected to your wifi. They can be conncted to your router via a cable, but need an adapter (https://www.sonos.com/shop/sonos-combo-adapter). As stated above they will not drag the system over to Sonosnet.

You are aware you cannot use the old Play 5's and the Era's with the same app - they cannot be grouped?

Very helpful. Thank you.

I was thinking of upgrading all three play 5s.

This will leave me with no old kit.
