unable to pair two sonos roams together-

I recently purchased two Sonos roams with the intention of pairing them to play music in stereo.

They are both set up in the wifi system, will play music separately and together on AirPlay but when I follow the directions on my Sonos iOS app to link them I receive a message that reads first “searching for nearby products, make sure they are powered on…and then “two compatible speakers are required to add a stereo pair. Make sure your products are powered on and connected to wi-fi”.

Am I missing something that needs to be done? Any help gratefully accepted

Try rebooting both Roams and deleting and reinstalling the Sonos app. Then follow these steps to create a stereo pair:
