This is the expected interaction. The red light simply verifies that the charging process has started, it is not a continuous charging status indicator. You must open the controller App in order to check the charge level.
The unit should fully charge after a few hours.
And you should also be certain that the amount of amperage/voltage is enough. Some earlier USB chargers don’t provide enough power to the Sonos.
