Setting alarm on Roam 2

Hi there, I am new to Sonos having picked up a couple of s/h Play:1s with which I am very impressed. I decided to purchase a new Roam 2 as I liked the idea of using the voice functions etc. Last night I set an alarm for this morning and it didn’t go off. I have checked in the app and it is there set correctly and I have battery save turned off. I noticed that the lights were off on the unit and it wasn’t responding to voice commands. During the day I can see that it enters sleep mode with the lights off and non-responsive to voice. My question is, how does it work as an alarm if it goes into unresponsive mode? Am I missing something obvious?

Hello @RalphysGirl, welcome to the Sonos Community!

Sorry to hear that the alarm didn’t go off but that is the expected behavior.

When i first purchased my Sonos Roam I used it in a similar manner. Simply keep the speaker on charge throughout the day and night, just like your Sonos Play:1’s and do not worry, this will not damage the battery.

My Sonos Roam is constantly plugged in, going portable only when I want to listen at a place I have no other Sonos speaker e.g. shower, balcony, car (Bluetooth).

I hope this helps.

That’s helpful, thank you. I kept it attached to the charger last night and the alarm went off fine, so it’s good to have received your clarification that I’m now using the Roam correctly. It’s also good to understand that keeping it on the charger won’t harm the battery.

Many thanks!
