Radio stations no longer available - is it from a courtroom problem?

Over the past few months, I’ve noticed that a number of my stored radio stations from Tunein no longer play. I’m listening from the UK.

I’ve seen reference to Tunein “geo blocking” and wondered why this would happen.

Just came across details of this court case which happened at the end of last year and wonder if it gives the explanation…

Which stations are missing?

A couple that I saved included Cinemix and ABC Lounge - both of which I can still listen to from their own websites or apps, just not via Sonos.

@soh-nose, Perhaps the URLs have changed. Remove those stations from ‘My Sonos’, and search for them anew.

Thanks @Smilja , don’t think this is a URL problem - I tried that.

This article  https://www.digitalmusicnews.com/2019/12/05/tunein-sony-wmg-appeal/ gives a bit more explanation - especially the section where Tunein is quoted.

I’m not sure why this case was brought - perhaps just a function of the way copyright law works in the UK and Sony/Warner wanted it as a test before trying in other countries?

Bassdrive.com has been geo-restricted to not play in the UK. VPN then.

Well, tried NL and US VPN, still won’t work through TuneIn on Sonos, damn.

I have managed to get Cinemix back by adding this url as its stream (Manage>Add Radio Statio

I dropped ‘TuneIn’ for ‘myTuner’ as it has Feedback Radio. I also added a Bassdrive stream by finding the cast url at https://directory.shoutcast.com/.
