I’m a PC user. I have an audio book on several CDs.

Using iTunes, I’d like to rip all the CDs so I can do the following:

  1. Play the digital files ripped from CD stored on my PC using my Play5s, and PlayOnes
  2. Play the files on my iphone or ipod.

Does the Sonos system require the files to be in a specific format? I don’t want to rip them, only to realize they should have been ripped to a different format.

Thanks!

Here is the list of audio formats supported for a Sonos music library:

I prefer FLAC as it is a perfect copy of the CD.

MP3's at 320kbps don't sound quite as good imho but there's not much in it and they are a lot smaller storage wise.

I don not think iTunes rips to FLAC, though….

I use iTunes to rip the files as AIFF and they are playable with my SONOS system.
