I have 2 Sonos home theater systems and a stereo pair and ALL are down right now, even the ones with a direct HDMI connection to my TV.  Sonos is apparently having issues because the icons for streaming services keep disappearing and won’t stream (gives “Internet down” message, despite my Speedtest showing a solid 1GB connection to all test servers..).

Why can’t I play audio locally when Sonos is down?  Is this like that BMW “Pay a monthly subscription for heated seats” deals where SONOS can just brick my system if they decide to shut down?

I’m going to throw all of my SONOS gear out the window, this is ridiculous.

Hey @Armand28, welcome to the Sonos Community!

Sorry to hear about the issues you are experiencing with your Sonos system.

Despite Sonos being the BMW/Mercedes/Jaguar/(insert your favourite car brand) on the home sound system market, there is no subscription regarding which sources of music/sound you use with it apart from Sonos Radio HD and music service subscriptions that control their availability within, and the limitations of inputs into Sonos.

Back to the problem at hand though: I would expect that offline sources, such as TV sound, are played on Sonos regardless of the internet connection, if the system is set-up.

Where did you see the error message? Do you perhaps have a screenshot if you can reproduce the issue?

Best option for support is to reach out to our technicians who have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your Sonos system and what it reports.

I unplugged my SONOS and reset all of my network connections and a few hours later it started working again.  No idea what fixed it, or why I lost local HDMI audio while it wasn’t working, but it is working again.  Thanks!
