True play won’t set up with new Arc
True play won’t set up with new Arc
Is that a question? A request for advice? Or are you just sharing with us?
If you’re after help, give us a bit more information. Have you got the Arc in your system, can you play music through it, at what point does it fail when you try to run Trueplay, what error messages do you get? What IOS version are you running, and which phone?
Don’t know about nik9669a, but I just replaced my old playbar with a new arc and can’t get Trueplay to work, either. I have it paired with 2 Play 1s for surround, am using an iPhone 15 Plus and iOS 17.6.1.
It starts the tuning process, stops suddenly and just gives me the error message “Something went wrong. Please try again.” Completely unhelpful. I have “tried again” repeatedly with no success. I restarted the Sonos app, restarted my WiFi—nothing. The chatbot in help was useless. It mentioned that some newer devices are not supported, and maybe that’s the case because it proceeded to tell me that my phone model and iOS version don’t exist.
The arc will play music and is working with my TV just fine.
Hi. Was just about to send it all back for a refund and thought one last try. It worked. All as it should do within a minute. Noticed updates had recently gone through on both Sonos and iPhone. Coincidence?
Glad it’s worked for you,
Added the Sub Gen3 to an existing Arc. The arc plays fine, both TV and music apps. However trueplay will not complete. It goes thru the sounds and finally it says something happened continue or try again. I’ve tried numerous times but the same results. I tried playing music as some have suggested but that didn’t work. I’m using an iPhone 14 max pro with iOS 18.0.1.
Any ideas?
I just used TruePlay on my Arc with dual subs and Era 300’s as surrounds using an iPhone 15 ProMax running OS 18.0.1. Everything went perfectly.
Things you can check/try are:
- Delete and reinstall the Sonos app
- Make sure there are no appliances running near buy such as a refrigerator, AC, or any noise that might interfere such a radio or someone in your home doing something that generates sound.
Well I just tried trueplay on my iPad 9th gen running 18.0.1 iso. It worked perfectly. Go figure. Thanks goodness it was getting very frustrating.
Now I’m wondering if my phone case has something to do with it. The mic is reseted in the case while my iPad mic is not surrounded by the case. I’m leary of taking it off and trying because I’ll have to redo with my iPad if it doesn’t work.

Glad it worked. However, are you still saying it won’t work on your iPhone?
No, it wouldn’t ever work. But I haven’t tried it without the case.

As I recall, last time I tuned, the instructions do say to remove your phone from any case.
