I’m having trouble with my sound. I use my phone or iPad to control volume. It now seems to only work if I use my tv controller and put it on mute. This issue started up after trying to connect headphones to my tv.

What Sonos speaker(s) are you using please, and how are they connected to your TV? What brand of TV do you have?
You only get sound when muted? Could you please elaborate, as this does not make a lot of sense to me at present. Thanks.
While I am not sure what the exact issue is, have you tried rebooting your TV by unplugging it from power for a full minute? This can often clear up Home Theatre issues.
