Just got a new Beam gen2 to connect to my Sony X90J tv. Plugged into the TV I have a cable box, a Nintendo switch, and another gaming console. The Beam is plugged into the earc hdmi port. 
 

No matter whether I am using any of the above devices or a streaming service like Netflix the sound does come out of the beam. 
 

The problem is I cannot get the remote to control the volume on the beam. I’ve tried setup through the sonos app and the tv and it just won’t work. It tells me to turn cec on on the tv but the Bravia Sync is already on. 
 

Any help would be appreciated!

I’d try a few things.

First, check the TV for updates, and apply any that there may be.

Next, reboot the TV and the Beam. This requires literally unplugging each from the wall. I’d recommend at least a couple of minutes.

Then plug the back in, and let them reload their respective OS.

I’d then try flipping that Bravia Sync off for a minute, then back on.

Finally, if none of that works, I’d call Sonos Support directly to discuss it.

When you speak directly to the phone folks, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.
