Hi there,

I just purchased a used Sonos Playbase, but it has this weird metal mount stuck to the bottom - I do not know what it is or now to remove it. Any help would be much appreciated please - especially with regard to ‘how to get it off’. Thanks

I’m not even sure how it is connected. Double sided tape, maybe? Those look like tabs at the ‘top’, I’d be tempted to use a hair dryer type device to heat up that device, and try prying from those tabs, but uber carefully. I just don’t see any screws or other connectors to deal with there.

Thanks. I’ll wait to see if I can get it identified first… then I might be able to understand how it has been attached. Cheers

Is there any compelling reason for you to remove the mount?

How thick is the mount? The image suggests that there is very little space between the plate and PLAYBASE. If this is the case, glue or tape is a high probability.

If the mount is glued in place, I don’t think that there is any practical way of removing it. The risk of damage is very high.

Those two tabs are intriguing. Is any movement possible? Maybe they are simply locators to help placement of a large double sided sheet of adhesive,

As Airgetiam suggests, double sided tape is vulnerable to heat and constant tension. Drive a wedge between the plate and PLAYBASE. I would start driving a wedge (possibly a knife edge) between the tab and plate. You don’t need to be overly aggressive. Constant tension, possibly over a period of hours or days, and heat will cause the adhesive to release. Excessive force causes unnecessary damage. There is no hurry. It’s interesting to watch me remove labels. My motto is: “slower is faster”. Someone else will frantically scratch and pull, resulting in a fragmented, incomplete removal, but it seems like they are making rapid, incremental progress. With my heat and constant tension approach, I seem to be progressing at a much slower rate, but I’m finished in less elapsed time and my label comes off in one piece.

Thanks. It’s annoying because the Playbase feet are like 2mm in there air thanks to this plate. It’s a pretty solid piece of metal… So I was hoping that someone might know exactly what it is and how makes it… In the end, yes, I will have to resort to patience :-)

Adding thicker feet might be the quick and easy solution.

Where did you buy it - or rather: can you ask the seller?

This has been tried, pawnshop, they have no idea. Thanks
