I ‘think’ you have to go in to the controls on the TV, and tell it to switch to optical for the remote, in addition to the digital output. Not having a Frame, I’m not sure how to do that, especially if the FAQ from Sonos doesn’t explain it.
You may want to call Sonos Support directly to discuss it, if you can’t find appropriate instructions in the TV’s FAQ, or contact Samsung’s CS department.
When you speak directly to the phone folks, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.
Thank you. I spent 30 mins on hold and another 40mins with a technician. We went through all of the steps I had already tried and needed to leave.
Called back today. Waited on hold 40mins. Once the technician picked up, the call dropped. Frustrating
Is this with Sonos, or with Samsung? As I suggested, I’d start with Samsung, since it is their remote that you’re trying to ‘fix’.
It was with Sonos. The remote works. TV turns on and off. Volume control works if I unplug soundbar. I’ll give Samsung a try though
I found the solution to this on Reddit!
Follow modified instructions

For step 6 belrather than following these instructions:
6. You will be asked to do a power test. Select the Power Test button. When it asks you if it worked, select Yes and then Done.
Rather:
When it asks you if it worked, select NO and subsequently select YES
